Bridge Plug Application: Thru Tubing Sidetrack
Requirement:
- A cement plug was required above the production packer to facilitate removal of the production tubing, placement of a cement plug and sidetracking through the casing above
Solution:
- Run an Inflatable Bridge Plug (IBP) on SlickPak™ Plus and set in the production packer

Dump a cement plug on top prior to moving rig over well

Move in rig, pull tubing and sidetrack well

Vietnam:
Challenge:

A sand stone reservoir producing well offshore Vietnam was scheduled for sidetracking to enhance oil recovery. The well was completed with 3 ½” tubing and 7” casing.
Solution:
-
A 2 ½” OD IBP was run on slick line and set inside the 3 ½” production packer. The well was filled with seawater and tested against the IBP.

A 10’ cement plug was dump bailed on top of the IBP.

Rig was moved over the well, tubing released and a 100’ cement plug placed above the production packer and IBP.
Value Added:

A window was cut in the casing and a new sidetracked well drilled without interference from the original producing interval.
